Organic Brown Rice
Why Choose Organic?More and more, consumers want certified organic foods because they know these foods are grown and processed without the use of synthetic chemicals and fertilizers, transgenic organisms or irradiation. What is Organic? In order to claim "100% certified organic", products must contain only organic ingredients and must be grown with no chemical fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides. Farms growing organic products must undergo an annual certification inspection. In addition, land will have no prohibited substances applied to it for at least 3 years before the harvest of an organic crop. The use of genetic engineering, ionizing radiation and sewage sludge is prohibited. Soil fertility and crop nutrients will be managed through tillage and waste materials and allowed synthetic materials. Crop pests, weeds, and diseases will be controlled primarily through management practices including physical, mechanical, and biological controls. Gourmet House® organic rice is certified by the Organic Crop Improvement Association (O.C.I.A.), which is the world's largest organic certification agency.
