Healthy Breakfast Cereal

Ingredients:

3 cups cooked, Gourmet House® Brown Rice or Organic Brown Rice (without butter or salt)
2 cups 1% milk
1/2 cup prunes, chopped
1 Tbsp corn oil tub margarine
1 tsp ground cinnamon
honey or brown sugar (optional)
fresh fruit (optional)


Directions:

Combine prepared rice, milk, prunes, margarine, and cinnamon in a 2 to 3 quart saucepan. Bring to a boil; stir. Reduce heat to medium-low; cover and simmer 8 to 10 minutes or until thickened. Serve with honey or brown sugar and fresh fruit, if desired. Makes six servings.

I omited the prunes and added fresh banana and used real organic butter in the place of the margarine.




Brown Rice is an excellent source of whole grains.
