Minnesota Cultivated Wild Rice

This is wild rice commercially-grown in a man-made paddy versus organically-grown wild rice naturally grown in a lake or river. The distinctive taste of Gourmet House® wild rice deliciously complements meats, seafood or poultry as a nutritious side dish. Wild rice lends added flavor and color to many recipes, including soups, salads, stuffings, casseroles, desserts and more!

Cooking Directions - On the Stove

For 2 Servings -- In a medium saucepan, bring 1-1/2 cups water to boil. If desired, add margarine and salt. Stir in 1/2 cup wild rice, reduce heat and cover, simmer for 55 minutes. Remove from heat. Let stand for 5 minutes and serve.

For 4 Servings -- In a medium saucepan, bring 3 cups water to boil. If desired, add margarine and salt. Stir in 1 cup wild rice, reduce heat and cover, simmer for 55 minutes. Remove from heat. Let stand for 5 minutes and serve.

Cooking Directions - In the Microwave

In a 2-quart microwave-safe dish, combine 1 cup wild rice and 2-1/2 cups hot water. If desired, add margarine and salt. Cover and microwave on HIGH for 5 minutes. Reduce setting to 50% power, microwave for 30-35 minutes. Let stand for 10-15 minutes and serve. **It is recommended that only 1 cup of rice be prepared in the microwave at a time. Microwave ovens vary. Cooking times are approximate.
