Yes … Cooking and freezing ahead of time turns wild rice into a convenience food. Cooked wild rice (plain) will keep about 6 months in your freezer. When storing cooked wild rice in the freezer, drain well and place in an airtight container.
Can I use wild rice in sweetened recipes?
Wild rice tends to revert back to hard kernels when combined with sweeteners. Over-cooking and chopping wild rice helps prevent this from occuring. Sweetened recipes using cooked wild rice are best when served within one day of preparation.
Can you cook Wild Rice in the microwave?
Use a glass casserole dish in the microwave, because of the long cooking time, plastic cookware IS NOT recommended.
How do I thaw frozen cooked wild rice?
We recommend defrosting in the refrigerator over night, or microwave on 'defrost' setting for a few minutes.
